The Hotel El Reloj is run by Señor Lara and his wife Adriana, and is located quite close to the central plaza in Coyhaique. timber was one of the mainstays of the local economy in the old pioneering days in Patagonia, ande the hotel is a tasteful conversion, adapted for the early day of logging. The only concession to this is the fact that the entrie hotel is made of wood, giving it a warm and inviting atmosphere, enhaced by the cosy lounge area and the open fire in the lobby. Small and intimate dinning room is where we will be eating each evening, and food here is beautifully presented and served - there is also a great selection of Chilean wines.

Beedrooms are homely with direct dial telephones and satellite television. The real charm of the hotel is in its pleasant laid back atmosphere, and the handy central location that allows you to stroll out and explore this curious little town of an evening.

Coyhaique's most attractive lodging option, El Reloj is a renovated warehouse with touches of rusticity blending elegantly with smart, celan desing. Rooms are off the lounge with a roaring fireplace, but are buffered by an unobtrusive hallway that keep the rooms quiet. Upstairs rooms are slightly larger and brighter and have great views. The kitchen provides sumptuous meals; breakfast is included and fixed-proces linches are US$6.
